With much controversy taking place online, Hot 97’s programme director Ebro, took to Twitter to express his confusion and disliking for what happened after Kendrick Lamar’s set at this year’s Summer Jam.
To make things a little clearer if you don’t what happened last night, basically Wu Tang Clan did a pretty dope set (as always), A$AP Rocky killed it (of course) and Kendrick Lamar brought out everyone in Black Hippy to perform their collaborative tracks as well as Kendrick‘s solo tracks, which lasted for half an hour. All good right? Then out of nowhere, Papoose surprisingly graces the stage, totally unannounced and performs his track “Get At Me” from his album Nacirema Dream, which features Ron Browz. See the performance below.
So, all in all, it seems legit. Papoose didn’t pull a Lil Mama. When Pap’ was on top of his game, he helped Kendrick Lamar on his come up, so it was only right Kendrick returned the favour to Papoose to close out his set, but the timing was all sorts of wrong and it felt very awkward indeed. He definitely should have had Papoose out during the middle of his set, but hey ho. At least Pap’ and old man Ebro cleared the air over a phone call that was played live on Hot 97.
The Nacirema Dream is on iTunes now.
